The 2010 TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge bowls off today in St Lucia, with reigning double-crown champions Jamaica starting their three-day title defence against Trinidad and Tobago(T&T).

The game will take place at Gros-Islet Sports Complex.

Six players have been retained from last year’s squad and this gives the Jamaicans a solid foundation upon which to build.

The six players are, Captain Paul Palmer Junior, Vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood, John Campbell, Ramon Senior, Kemar Marshall and Nicholson Gordon.

Three players who represented the Young West Indies in the Youth World Cup earlier this year in New Zealand have been added to the T&T squad.

The trio are, Captain Yannick Ottley, all-rounder Yannic Cariah and left-handed batsman Evin Lewis.

T&T also have five players from last year’s tournament.

In other opening round matches today, Barbados will take on Windward Islands at the Beausejour Cricket Ground and Guyana will battle Leeward Islands at Dennery.
