Manchester Lions retain semi professional title
Manchester Lions retained the semi-professional Jamaican Super Cricket League title yesterday after taking first innings points in their drawn final round match against Melbourne Kangaroos at Melbourne Oval.
Melbourne Kangaroos, resuming yesterday’s second and final day on 135 for four replying to Manchester Lions’ first innings total of 344 were bowled out for 243. David Powell was the most successful bowler for Manchester Lions with five for 107.
Trailing by 101 runs and asked to follow on, Melbourne Kangaroos were 200 for four when the game was called off. Marlon Samuels led the batting with 107.
Manchester Lions ended top of the table with 25 points, one ahead of Melbourne Kangaroos and St Catherine Saints on 24 each.
St Catherine Saints also battled to a draw in their final round game against Westmoreland Wizards at Little London.
Scores in that game:- Westmoreland 203 and 267, St Catherine Saints 294 and 39 for three.
St Elizabeth Warriors finished fourth on 18 points after recording a come-from-behind victory over Kingston Tigers at Sabina Park.
Scores in the game:- Kingston Tigers 205 and 113, St Elizabeth Warriors 177 and 141 for two.
