The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) has confirmed the resignation of Nehemiah Perry, chairman of selectors for Jamaica’s senior cricket team.

JCA’s president Paul Campbell said the former West Indies and Jamaica off-spinning all-rounder tendered his resignation last night.

Campbell further said Perry’s resignation did not come as a surprise.

Perry’s resignation comes a few days following reports that Tamar Lambert has been selected ahead of West Indies skipper Chris Gayle to captain Jamaica at the upcoming inaugural Caribbean 20/Twenty Championship.

Perry has held the job for the past two years.

The JCA is yet to release the 14-man squad for the July 22 to 31 championship in Barbados and Trinidad.
