TCL Group Under 19 Challenge Round Up
Champions Jamaica had to settle for first innings points against Guyana as their TCL West Indies Under-19 second round Challenge match ended in a draw, after rain wrecked yesterday’s final day in St Lucia.
Rain prevented any play until 2:15 p.m. at the Gros Islet Playing Field but Jamaica managed to wrap up Guyana’s first innings for 200, in response to their mammoth first innings of 380.
The Guyanese had resumed on 136 for seven.
Jamaica were 28 for one batting a second time when play was eventually called off.
Jamaica took six points from the encounter to move to nine points, six points behind leaders Guyana on 15.
Final scores in that match are Jamaica 380 and 28 for one; Guyana 200.
The other two matches also failed to produce outright winners.
At the Dennery playing field, the third and final day of the match between Windward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago was abandoned because of rain. The game was declared a draw.
Final scores in that game are Windward Islands 236 and 60 for one, T&T 216.
While at the Beausejour cricket ground Barbados won first innings points in their drawn match with Leeward Islands to move to second place in the table on 12 points. Only 46 minutes were available because of bad weather.
Final scores in that match are Barbados 350 for six declared, Leeward Islands 211.
The third round bowls off tomorrow with Jamaica facing Leeward Islands at Beausejour, T&T playing Barbados at Dennery and Guyana tackling Windward Islands at Gros-Islet.
