Allen Says Cap on BP well can remain another day

Admiral Thad Allen, the US official in charge of the Gulf of Mexico clean up, has said that the temporary cap may remain for another 24 hours, as there is no indication of an oil leak.

Earlier today Admiral Allen was concerned about a seep detected on the sea floor, near the well.

Allen said the seeping of methane gas from the sea floor may mean oil leaking, and ordered the oil company to submit a plan to reopen the well in case of this.

According to BBC reports, if the cap is reopened, the daily leakage of tens of thousands of barrels of oil could resume.
