Australian swimmer Melissa Gorman has been restored as the bronze medallist in the open water world championship, three days after she was disqualified for unsporting conduct in a rough race finish.
Swimming's governing body, FINA, reinstated Gorman, because the appeal jury which threw her out of the 10-kilometre medal event had no right to adjudicate.
China's Fang Yanqiao was demoted to fourth, after having been awarded bronze, following Saturday's race in Roberval, Canada.
