Day three of the 13th World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada has been a disappointing one for Jamaica’s athletes so far as only Jody Ann Muir lived up to expectations.

Muir booked her spot in the medal round of the girls’ 400 metres following a third place finish in Heat One of the semi-finals this morning. She clocked 53.20 seconds; while Janieve Russell crashed out after a seventh place finish in Heat Three in 55.16 seconds.

Earlier, Natoya Goule failed to advance to the medal round of the girls’ 800 metres following a fourth place finish in Heat Two of the semifinals. Goule stopped the clock at two minutes, 05.07 seconds.

Javan Gallimore, Nolan Williams, Ashinia Miller and Chad Wright did not progress out of the first round of their events.

Gallimore, clocked 55.99 seconds for sixth place in Heat One of the boys’ 400-metre hurdles; while Williams also finished sixth in his heat. He clocked 54.67 seconds in Heat Three.

Wright had an 18.33 metre throw in Group ‘B’ of the boys’ shot put, but it was only good enough for seventh place. Miller competing in Group ‘A’ ended ninth with a throw of 17.44 metres.
