11 Jamaicans to compete at Monaco Meet

Two-time Olympic 200-metre champion, Veronica Campbell-Brown, is among 11 Jamaicans down to compete at the Monaco Diamond League meeting in France tomorrow.



Campbell-Brown and American Carmelita Jeter will headline the 100 metres, scheduled to start at 2.05pm in the afternoon Jamaica time.



Campbell-Brown posted the best time in the world this year with 10.78 seconds, at the Prefontaine Classic on July 3, 2010. Jeter, who was the big favourite, finished third in 10.83 seconds.



The race also includes Jamaicans Sherone Simpson, the Beijing Olympic Games 100-metre silver medallist, and Carie Russell.



Isa Phillips will be the first Jamaican on the track. He will compete in the men’s 400-metre hurdles, scheduled to start at 12.50pm, while Kaliese Spencer is down to take the track at 1.05pm for the women’s 400-metre hurdles.



The other Jamaicans down to compete are: Yohan Blake and Ainsley Waugh in the 200 metres, Jermaine Gonzales and Ricardo Chambers in the 400 metres, Dwight Thomas in the 110-metre hurdles and Delloreen Ennis in the 100-metre hurdles.
