Jamaica wins relay bronze

Jamaica's 4 x 400-metre relay women’s team last night captured the bronze medal on the final day of competition of the week long 13th World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada.



The quartet of Jody Ann Muir, Janieve Russell, Natoya Goule and Chris Ann Gordon clocked a season-best three minutes, 32.24 seconds for the country's third medal at the championships.



Defending champions USA retained their gold medal in a world junior leading time of three minutes, 31.20 seconds while Nigeria won the bronze in a season-best three minutes, 31.84.



The Jamaican 4 x400 men's team failed in its medal attempt. The quartet of Demar Murray, Javere Bell, Jermaine Gayle and Dwayne Extol finished fourth in a season-best three minutes, 07.36 seconds.



USA swept the relays as the men's team won the gold medal in a world junior leading three minutes, 04.76.



Nigeria won silver in a national record of three minutes, 06.36, while bronze went to Great Britain in a season-best three minutes, 06.49.



Jamaica finished 10th place in the medal table with one gold, a silver and a bronze.



Kenya topped the medal standings with a haul of 15, including seven gold, four silver and four bronze.



The USA also won 15 medals, but with six gold, five silver and four bronze.
