St Kitts consumers to brace for power outages
Electricity consumers in St Kitts have been told to expect scheduled power outages for up to four weeks starting next Wednesday, as the local power company assesses whether it needs to overhaul its generation plant.
Engineers at the Needsmust Power Station are scheduled to carry out an inspection this weekend on the plant.
Acting General Manager of the St. Kitts Electricity Department, Bertil Browne says the inspection is to determine whether the overhaul is necessary at this time and if scheduled load shedding will have to take place.
He says with the generating plant under maintenance, a scheduled load shedding programme will be introduced from next Wednesday because it’s expected that capacity over the weekend and next Monday and Tuesday, public holidays will be lower.
