Guyana’s Opposition parties' internal strife

Guyana's two main opposition parties are reportedly grappling with internal issues ahead of next year's general election.

According to the BBC Caribbean, the main opposition People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) is still struggling to regain the support of key figures and repair its image following allegations of rigged internal elections.

At the same time, the two top leaders of the Alliance For Change (AFC) have been debating whether they should form a pre-election partnership with the PNC.

Support is divided between party leader Raphael Trotman who is pro-alliance, and party chairman, Khemraj Ramjattan, whose original views against a coalition appear to hold sway among AFC executives.
