One Day title to be decided today

The final round of the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 One Day Tournament in St Lucia will take place today, with defending champions Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Windward Islands all having a chance of taking the title.

However, Jamaica only have a slim chance of retaining the title. The Jamaicans, fourth in the standings with six points, will face second place Barbados at Dennery Playing Field.

Jamaica can only finish on 10 points with T&T. However, they will need to beat Barbados, who are on nine points, and hope that third place Windward Islands and leaders T&T are beaten in order to remain in contention.

Jamaica secured their first victory of the rain-battered tournament by crushing Guyana by seven wickets at Gros-Islet playing field yesterday to keep their slim chance alive.

Barbados moved to second place following a comfortable 55-run win over Leeward Islands at Dennery Playing Field.

T&T received a point yesterday after their top-of-the-table clash with Windward Islands at Beauchamp Playing Field was abandoned without a ball bowled, because of rain.

In the remaining final round of matches today, T&T will play Guyana at Beauchamp Playing Field, while Windward Islands and Leeward Islands will face off at Gros Islet Playing Field.
