Australian batsman returns home
Top Australian batsman Matthew Hayden is returning home and will miss the remainder of his team’s tour of the Caribbean.
The big left-hander has failed to recover sufficiently from an injury to his right Achilles tendon.
The 36 year old Hayden missed the first Test in Jamaica when Australia’s batting collapsed to a second innings 167. However, the Aussies still managed to win by 95 runs.
With Hayden heading back home, Brad Hodge will stay with the Test squad.
Vice-captain Michael Clarke will be available for the second game starting tomorrow in Antigua after missing the Sabina Park Test.
West Indies should be back to full strength as captain Chris Gayle and fast bowler Jerome Taylor have been included in the squad.
Gayle returns after a groin injury, while Taylor is in after missing the opening match due to a sore back.
