The Opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP) says it will not support the proposal by education ministry to implement school fees for the children of foreigners.
ALP chairman Gaston Browne says Cabinet's acceptance of the recommendation to change the policy would be against the spirit of CARICOM and free movement.
However, the ministry of education says it is yet to present its proposal to Cabinet.
Chief Education Officer, Jacinta Pringle, says she supports the move because the resources to fund the country’s educational needs have declined due to a shortfall in revenue.
