Sunshine Girls off to New Zealand

Jamaica's Sunshine Girls are now travelling across the Trans-Tasman Channel to New Zealand, to face the World Number 2 Silver Ferns in a two-test series following a 3-test mauling by top-ranked Australia.



The matches are scheduled for Wednesday in Christchurch and Sunday in Napier.



The Jamaicans are on a low as they were swept yesterday, when Australia crushed them 71-40 to win the third and final Test at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.



The World Number 4 Jamaicans failed to cope with Australia and crashed to their third straight loss in the series, following 59-38 and 62-42 defeats in the first two Tests.



Goalshooter Romelda Aikens ended with 22 goals from 30 attempts for Jamaica in the final test. Anna-Kaye Griffiths had 17 from 20 and Vanessa Walker one from two.



For Australia, Natalie Medhurst had a game high 24 goals from 24 attempts, Sharelle McMahon had 21 from 25, Susan Pratley scored 14 from 14 and Kate Beveridge 12 from 20.
