Strike action at UK airports averted

The immediate threat of strikes at Britain's main airports has been averted after a preliminary settlement was reached by the British Airports Authority and the union representing its employees.
The parties have been locked in a dispute over an increase in salary and benefits.
The workers voted last Thursday to take industrial action.
Six major British airports, including London's Heathrow, were in danger of being shut down in the strikes.
