Bahamas resumes immigration enforcement

The government of The Bahamas says it has been compelled to resume immigration enforcement because of the increasing number of Haitians trying to enter the country illegally over the last six months and in particular during the last two weeks.
The government had temporarily halted roundups of mainly Haitian immigrants following the devastating earthquake in January.
However, now the Immigration Department is advising anyone who is illegally in The Bahamas to go home or be subject to arrest and deportation.
