Banana industry gets new aid

The Dominica government has announced a new recovery plan for the ailing but important banana sector.
Among its elements is a grant and low-interest loan scheme for farm rehabilitation.
Agriculture minister Matthew Walter also said the government was providing funds to farmers who are moving out of bananas into other crops along with subsidies for fertiliser.
