Serena crashes out French Open

World Number Four Serena Williams crashed out of the French Open after suffering a shock 6-4, 6-4 third round defeat to Katarina Srebotnik today at Roland Garros in Paris.
Williams, the 2002 champion, was broken twice in the first set and once in the second as Srebotnik claimed the finest victory of her career.
Top seed Maria Sharapova also struggled against Bethanie Mattek before winning her second round match 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
Second seed Ana Ivanovic is also through to the last 16 after beating 17 year old Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-1.
Three-time defending champion Rafael Nadal defeated Jarkko Nieminen 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 and British Number One Andy Murray lost 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 to clay-court specialist Nicolas Almagro.
