A report from Haiti suggests that the hip hop star, Wyclef Jean, is not on a list of 28 approved candidates for the country's presidential election in November.

According to the BBC Caribbean, a member of the provisional electoral council says the body has ruled that the singer did not meet several legal requirements.

The Fugees star, who was born in Haiti but raised in the United States announced earlier this month that he hoped to stand in the election.

The council is expected to announce the approved list of candidates, from 34 nominees later today.
