Opposition to seek legal advice on polygraphing

The Guyana Opposition is seeking legal advice on the proposed polygraphing of public sector workers.

The Guyana government served notice on Thursday that it is about to begin polygraph testing of members of law enforcement agencies and other public officers.

It's a measure presidential spokesman Roger Luncheon described as an internationally accepted method used to determine culpability.

However, the measure is being denounced by the President of the Public Service Union, Patrick Yarde, who claims that the introduction of such testing is politically motivated.

The leader of the opposition Peoples National Congress, Robert Corbin, says the party is seeking legal advice to determine whether the move is lawful.
