A United Nations delegation has arrived in St Lucia as part of a Caribbean mission to give advice on prison reforms.
The mission's focus is on prisoner rehabilitation, given that re-offending rates in the region are high.
According to Hilary Herman, the island's Director of Corrections, St Lucia's re-offence rate is at 48 percent.
He says the authorities may have to provide safety nets for prisoners when they return to society.
