Digicel Premier League kicks off on Sunday
The 2010-2011 season of the Digicel Premier League will finally start on Sunday after the Premier League Club Association (PLCA) was thinking about a very short season because of financial difficulties.
Former Prime Minister Edward Seaga, who heads the PLCA, says his association will be seeking new initiatives to make sure all 12 clubs completed the new season.
The new season was launched earlier this afternoon by telecommunication giants Digicel at the headquarters of the PLCA.
Title holders Harbour View will begin their campaign with a home game against Humble Lions at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
Tivoli Gardens, who finished second last season, will play away to newcomers Benfica at Drax Hall.
In other opening round games, Boys' Town will host St Georges; Reno who return after a one-year absence will be at home to Portmore United at Frome Complex in Westmoreland, Sporting Central will play Waterhouse at Brancourt in Clarendon and Village United and Arnett Gardens face off at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny.
This season represents the final year of a three-year contract by Digicel, valued at $150 million.
