Harbour View beat Humble Lions
Defending champions Harbour View defeated Humble Lions 1-0 at Harbour View Stadium last night as 18 goals were scored on the opening day of the 2010-2011 season of the Digicel Premier League.
John Ross Edwards scored the only goal of the match in the 82nd minute with the game heading for a draw.
Humble Lions played the entire second half with 10 men following the ejection of Kirk Duckworth on the stroke of the first half.
Over at Drax Hall in St Ann, last season’s runners-up Tivoli Gardens whipped Premier League debutant Benfica 3-1, while a 43rd minute goal from Alanzo Adlam led Portmore United to a 1-0 victory over Reno at Frome in Westmoreland.
First-half strikes by Kemar Thomas and Vincent Earle gave Waterhouse a 2-0 win over Sporting Central Academy at Brancourt in Clarendon and over at Collie Smith Drive, striker Dean Thompson and midfielder Anthony Dawes scored twice to lead Boys’ Town to an exciting 4-2 win over St Georges Sports Club.
In the day’s other game, Village United and Arnett Gardens battled to a 2-2 draw at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny.
