Antiguan government struggles to pay workers

Some public sector workers in Antigua and Barbuda will have to wait a while longer to collect their August pay.



The government issued a release yesterday saying that it’s having difficulty making the payments.



Some civil servants got paid last Friday.



The finance ministry said the current difficulties have come about mainly because of the setbacks arising from the global economic decline.



The ministry also said that every effort is being made to complete the payment of wages and salaries to the public sector workers within the next week.
