Five Jamaicans for IAAF/VTB Bank Continental Cup

Fast-rising Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake has pulled out of this weekend’s International Association of Athletics Federations/VTB Bank Continental Cup in Split, Croatia because of injury.
Blake was down to represent a powerful Americans team in the 4 x 100-metre relay, which also includes Antigua’s Daniel Bailey, Americans Wallace Spearmon and Monzavous Edwards along with Churandy Martina of Netherlands.
Four Jamaicans will now compete at the meet.
Ricardo Chambers is listed to run in the flat 400 on Saturday and will also represent the Americas in the 4 x 400-metre relay on Sunday. The squad also includes the American duo of Jeremy Wariner and Greg Nixon.
Other Jamaicans scheduled to compete for the Americas team are Shericka Williams in the flat 400 and 4 x 400-metre relay, Nickiesha Wilson in the 400-metre hurdles and 4 x 400-metre relay and Kenia Sinclair, who is down to run in the 800 metres.
Africa, Asia/Pacific and Europe will also field teams in the two-day championship.
