Jamaica aiming to avoid seven straight defeat

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls will be trying to avoid a seventh straight defeat when they face England in the final match of their two-test National Commercial Bank Sunshine Series at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston this evening.

The game is scheduled to start at 7:30.

The Jamaicans suffered their sixth straight defeats on Wednesday when they were whipped 53-42 by England in the opening test.

The Sunshine Girls were thrashed 3-0 by world number one Australia before suffering a 2-0 defeat to world number two New Zealand Down Under last month.

Jamaica’s coach Connie Francis says the experienced Simone Forbes and Kasey Evering let the team down in the first test.

As a result, Francis said there could be changes to the starting team for today’s final game.

England coach Maggie Jackson was happy with Wednesday’s victory but said his team needs to improve in some areas.

The teams are using the series as preparation for the Commonwealth Games in India next month.
