New York gets carnival-ready

The economic troubles in the United States are said to be hurting this year's West Indian Day Carnival scheduled for Monday in New York.



According to some revellers, tight finances are forcing them to drop out of masquerade bands or cut back on elaborate costumes.



Meanwhile, organisers say while fund-raising has become a bit of a challenge they still expect quite a show for Labour Day.
