Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz continued their 2014 Brazil World Cup campaign last night with a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in their international friendly at the National Stadium in front of a poor turnout.
Twenty-five-year-old midfielder Ryan Johnson, of the San Jose Earthquakes in the US Major League Soccer, scored the only goal of the match.
Johnson slotted home from the edge of the 18-yard box although under pressure from two Costa Rican defenders.
It was the first victory for the Reggae Boyz over Costa Rica in their last six matches.
Jamaica’s next home match will be against Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago on October 10.
However, Jamaica will next be in action tomorrow against Peru in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
