Jamaica, Peru face off in Fort Lauderdale
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will play their second international friendly in three days when they face Peru at the Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida tonight.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Jamaica time.
The Reggae Boyz are coming off a 1-0 victory over Central American rivals Costa Rica on Sunday night at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Twenty-five-year-old midfielder Ryan Johnson, of the San Jose Earthquakes in the US Major League Soccer, scored the only goal of the match on Sunday night.
It was the first victory for the Reggae Boyz over Costa Rica in their last six matches.
The Jamaican squad has been bolstered by four overseas-based players including US-based forward Omar Cummings and defender Shavar Thomas, who both joined the squad yesterday.
And assistant coach Bradley Stewart says there could be a number of changes to the team that beat Costa Rica.
The 39th ranked South Americans have secured victories over Honduras and Canada in recent games and will prove hard for the Reggae Boyz.
The meeting will, however, be just the second between the teams, which played to a 1-1 draw when they faced off at the National Stadium in 2006.
