Mumbai Indians on the verge of elimination

Kieron Pollard slammed 36 off 21 balls and his West Indies teammate Dwayne Bravo scored 22 off 12 balls but Mumbai Indians suffered a five-wicket defeat to South Australia Redbacks in their Champions League 20/20 match at Kingsmead in South Africa today.



The two Trinidadians shared in a fifth wicket partnership of 39 to help Mumbai Indians posted 180 for seven off their allotted 20 overs.



Saurabh Tiwary top scored for Mumbai Indians with 44 off 36 balls, while Ambati Rayudu supported with 38 and Sachin Tendulkar 20 off 17 balls.



However, Tom Cooper hit 19 off five balls to steer South Australia Redbacks home.



The defeat, Mumbai's second in two games in Group B, puts the team on the brink of elimination.



Lasith Malinga and Ali Murtaza picked up two wickets apiece for Mumbai Indians.



The competition continues tomorrow with Indian Premier League team Chennai Super King playing Wayamba Eleven of Sri Lanka at Centurion
