Acting Police Commissioner in Trinidad and Tobago (T&), Stephen Williams, says a probe has been launched into allegations of misconduct and corruption by members of a special unit within the force.
The unit is called the Repeat Offenders Programme Task Force.
Over the weekend, the Sunday Express newspaper carried a series of articles claiming that personnel attached to the unit were engaged in criminal activities.
The articles followed a two-month-long investigation after allegations of gross misconduct against officers were made by residents of the volatile Laventille community.
