Reggae Boyz move up FIFA table
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have shot back to the top of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) after moving up six places in the latest FIFA rankings released yesterday.
The Jamaicans are now ranked 76th in the world, following victories over Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica in two of three recent international friendly games.
T&T lost the top position in the CFU after slipping 21 places to 97th on the FIFA’s list.
World Cup champions Spain stayed at the top of FIFA’s list and Germany and England have risen after back-to-back wins in European Championship qualifiers.
The new rankings have France, which lost a home Euro 2012 qualifier to Belarus, dropping six places to Number 27, their worst position since the rankings were introduced in 1993.
Spain's 4-1 loss to Argentina in a friendly last week meant their lead narrowed over the second-place Netherlands. Germany are Number three and Brazil dropped to Number five.
Argentina stayed at Number four, with England now sixth ahead of Uruguay.
