FIFA inspectors raise doubts about Qatar World Cup bid

The head of the FIFA inspection team says Qatar face logistical problems in attempting to host the 2022 World Cup, raising doubts about their proposal for a tournament where stadiums are located close to one another.

Chile Football Federation president Harold Mayne-Nicholls didn't specify what problems he feared but says a World Cup these days would have to accommodate hundreds of thousands of people.

He says Qatar does not currently have the necessary accommodations and transport links to meet those demands.

Qatar bid committee chief executive Hassan al-Thawadi acknowledged the proposal faces challenges but vowed to find solutions to any problems identified by inspectors.

The country is the smallest nation bidding with only $1.6 million people.
