Boys’ Town beats Tivoli 1-0
Boys’ Town kept their perfect win record in the 2010-2011 season of the Digicel Premier League by securing a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens at Collie Smith yesterday.
As a result of the victory, Boys’ Town have regained the lead in the standings.
Renay Lloyd scored for the home team from the penalty spot in the 65th minute to lead Boys’ Town to three victories from three games.
Boys’ Town have now moved to nine points, three clear of Reno, Waterhouse, Portmore United, Tivoli Gardens and defending champions Harbour View, all of whom lost their unbeaten run yesterday.
Newcomers Benfica secured the first major upset of the season by ending the unbeaten run of Portmore United. Benfica won the match 2-1 on home turf at Drax Hall in St. Ann.
Gregory Tate, 40th minute, and Carlington Smith, in time added on, scored for Benfica, while Ricardo Cousins was on target for the visitors.
Early leaders Waterhouse were beaten 2-0 by 10-man Village United at Elliston Wakeland Centre in Trelawny. Kemar Brown and Jerome Eccleston were on target for Village United.
Over at Frome in Westmoreland, Sheldon Bryan scored a double to guide Reno to a 2-0 victory over Humble Lions, Sporting Central Academy hammered St Georges 4-1 at Brancourt in Clarendon and Arnett Gardens edged Harbour View 1-0 in the late game.
