Maurice Smith heads Jamaica's Commonwealth Games team
2005 World triple jump champion Trecia Smith and Maurice Smith, the 2007 World championships decathlon silver medallist head a list of 48 athletes who have been selected to represent Jamaica at the October 3 to 14 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.
The delegation also includes Kenia Sinclair, who won the 800-metre silver medal at the 2008 World Indoor Championships, Nickeisha Wilson, who was fourth in the 400-metre hurdles at the 2007 World Championships, World Junior 100-metre bronze medallist Remaldo Rose and the 2007 World Youth 200-metre champion Ramone McKenzie and Allodin Fothergill.
Two-time Central America and Caribbean Games shot put champion Dorian Scott, national high jump champion Sheree Francis and national 100-metre champion are also in the team.
The squad is missing the country’s top athletes including 100 and 200-metre world record holders Usain Bolt and former 100-metre world record holder Asafa Powell.
