Jamaicans to compete at Prefontaine

Sprinters Sherone Simpson, Kerron Stewart and Michael Frater head a list of five Jamaicans slated to compete Sunday at the 2008 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.



Simpson, the fastest woman in 2006 and Stewart will join a star-studded field in the women’s 100 metres.



The field also includes 2007 World Silver medallist Lauryn Williams, 2007 World Outdoor bronze medallist Carmelita Jeter, 2003 World champion Torri Edwards and two-time World Outdoor 200-metre champion Allyson Felix, all from the USA.



The men’s 100 metre will feature Frater, the 2005 world silver medallist, the reigning Olympic 200 metre gold medallist Shawn Crawford of the USA, Darrel Brown of Trinidad and 2004 Olympic silver medallist Francis Obikwelu of Portugal.



The other Jamaicans down to compete are Chris Williams in the men’s 200 metres and Dorian Scott in the men’s shot putt.
