Eltham, Jonathan Grant, Penwood secure victories
The Spanish Town-based Eltham and Jonathan Grant along with Penwood secured victories yesterday to keep their perfect win record in the 2010 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel urban-area Manning Cup competition.
Eltham High registered the biggest victory of the day with a 4-0 win over their Spanish Town rival St Catherine to move to nine points in Group ‘F’.
Eltham High, who lead the group, are now two points ahead of second place Kingston College, who were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by Tarrant at Clovelly Park. In the group other match, Jonathan Grant edged Campion 1-0 at Prison Oval to move to six points from two games.
Penwood defeated Pembroke Hall 3-1 to take the lead in Group ‘D’ with maximum nine points, two ahead of second place Norman Manley, who were held to a goalless draw by St Andrew Technical High School. Norman Manley ended the game with nine men. Meadowbrook secured their first victory following a 4-2 win over Mona at Michigan Avenue.
In the day’s other games , Jose Marti defeated Dunoon Technical 3-0, Ascot beat 1-l draw.
The competition continues this afternoon at 3.30 p.m. with eight games across three groups.
The rural-area ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup resumes this afternoon with eight matches across three Zones. All games are also scheduled to start at 3.30 p.m.
