Spat between Anguillan Governor and Chief Minister
It appears that all is not well in Anguilla, following a public spat between the Governor and Chief Minister.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Hubert Hughes claimed that Governor Alistair Harrison asked him to resign after he presented a letter to Harrison today.
However, the Governor has since issued a statement denying Hughes' allegations.
The matter stemmed from a request from Chief Minister Hughes to reassign the duties of some of his cabinet members.
Governor Harrison says he was asked to adjust the portfolio of the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Social Development Edison Baird by removing the Health, Social Welfare and Community Development portfolios, giving them to a former opposition MP who recently crossed the floor.
Harrison says he raised his own concern about other ministers and noted that any re-shuffle should take account of those concerns.
