Haiti elections campaign begins

Election campaigning has reportedly begun in Haiti ahead of the polls in November.

The elections will be the first since the devastating January earthquake.

The presidential and legislative elections are scheduled for November 28.

Officials say they are concerned about security, with many of the country's 4.5 million eligible voters living in refugee camps.

Haiti is still recovering from the massive earthquake that killed at least 250,000 people and left 1.5 million homeless.

Outgoing President Rene Preval says he hopes the election does not become a battleground where aggressive campaigners try to destroy their rivals.

Preval says those contesting the election should concentrate on expounding their ideas.
