FIFA president to inaugurate JFF technical centre
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has handed over the Technical Centre at the University of West Indies Bowl of Excellence in Mona to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).
The ceremony took place earlier today.
The Technical Centre represents the first phase of a FIFA goal project. Phase One of the Technical Centre project includes a first-class training field, changing rooms, referees' quarters and equipment storage area.
Blatter and a high-powered team from FIFA also gave the go ahead for the second phase of the four-phase project by breaking ground at the site.
Phase Two will involve an additional floor to the existing structure and an office for the technical staff, a presentation room, a kitchenette and a second playing field.
Each phase will be developed with the regular FIFA Goal Project grant of US$400,000.
Blatter, who arrived in the island yesterday, will end his two-day stay in the country later.
He will then make his way to the British Virgin Islands to inaugurate another Goal Project.
