NNP accuses NDC of inciting violence
The ruling New National Party (NNP) in Grenada is accusing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of inciting violence in the election campaign leading up to the July 8 poll.
One NNP candidate has reported that he and his mother received death threats while two other candidates were harassed.
The youngest political candidate, Devon Rache said his house was broken into and the office of his Central St. David’s constituency vandalised.
Health Minister and candidate for South St. George, Ann David Antoine, said her driver was also threatened.
Police Commissioner, Winston James said his office has been receiving a number of complaints from supporters of both parties including threats of violence, assault and harassments of persons wearing party colours.
Some political parties are expected to sign a code of conduct on Friday, to guide the behaviour of candidates during the election campaign.
