Barbados Cabinet reshuffled

Ailing Barbadian Prime Minister David Thompson has reshuffled his Cabinet, passing on the critical job of finance minister to former Social Care Minister Chris Sinckler.

David Estwick, who held the high profile economic affairs ministry, has been switched to the Ministry of Agriculture.

A number of other changes were also made.

Prime Minister Thompson, who is suffering from pancreatic cancer, said the changes would allow for more effective government.

In reacting to the changes, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley said it was unfortunate that the opportunity was lost to bring new energy and talent into the Cabinet.
