Ecuador law to be rewritten

A senior minister in the Ecuadorean government says parts of a law which provoked a police rebellion last week will be rewritten.



The policy minister, Doris Soliz, says President Rafael Correa no longer plans to dissolve Congress.



It’s something that he had earlier suggested he might do to push through his austerity measures.



Dominica's Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described the attack on President Correa as the type of action fuelled by a growing trend where minority groups are engaging in unscrupulous acts to prevent legitimate governments from functioning properly.



Grenada's Foreign Affairs Minister Peter David has called for CARICOM to stand up collectively against attempts to return Latin America to the military dictatorship.
