The maritime authority in St Kitts and Nevis says a Turkish oil tanker has run aground in the Basseterre Harbour.
Rough seas and bad weather caused the tanker, with around 18 thousand barrels of diesel on board, to break from its mooring on Monday night.
Its stern is now resting on the seabed.
The director of Maritime Affairs, McClean Hobson says there has been no oil spill and it’s hoped that the situation remains that way.
