Officials in Sudan\'s capital Khartoum said 14 passengers are still missing after a plane burst into flames after landing yesterday.

29 people reportedly died in the crash.

Sudan Airways officials said it is difficult to determine the death toll as many passengers did not wait around for customs inspection after the crash.

Khartoum Police Chief, Mohammad Othman Mohammad, said a defect caused the plane to explode as it touched down during a storm.

The last airline disaster involving a Sudan Airways plane was on July 8, 2003, when a Boeing 737 reported engine trouble after take-off from Port Sudan and missed its return approach to the airport.

A three year old boy was the only survivor among the 117 people aboard.

It was said to be Sudan\'s worst air disaster.
