Caribbean tourism leaders are meeting in Barbados to devise ways of giving new dynamism to the region's most important industry.
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation has gathered influential planners to assess the state of the industry which has been struggling during the global economic crisis.
New CTO chairman Ricky Skerritt, a tourism minister in St Kitts and Nevis, says air travel was beginning to rebound in the region, although more slowly than predicted from some markets.
In its latest assessment issued at the weekend, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said growth in most of the Caribbean countries will be subdued amid weak prospects for tourism and remittances.
