Eight-year-old killed in St Lucia

An 8 year-old child was shot dead last night while her parents were injured after masked gunmen entered her home and fired several shots at them.



The police say Marissa Marie was hit several times as she slept in the house in La Clery, on the outskirts of the capital.



Her mother has been hospitalised in critical condition with gunshot wounds while the other occupant was treated at hospital and released.



The 8 year-old is the sister of Kershel Marie who was also shot and injured last month when gunmen opened fire on a group of people attending a barbeque on the outskirts of the city.



Fifty-two-year-old Justus Cenott was also killed in that attack.



The police have not said whether the two incidents are related noting that no one has been arrested.
