Antigua and Barbuda has implemented a gun amnesty.
This means that people with illegal weapons may surrender them without any punishment.
In making the announcement, the country’s National Security Minister Dr. Errol Cort said the amnesty took immediate effect and will last for 30 days.
Dr Cort said the initiative is part of crime fighting strategies discussed with the security forces.
He said while there has been a reduction in serious and violent crimes, authorities have to be proactive in their approach.
