Another Nigerian tested positive at Commonwealth Games
A second doping case in two days, and again involving a Nigerian runner, has hit the Commonwealth Games.
Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell of Jamaica says Samuel Okon, who was sixth in the 110-metre hurdles final last Friday, tested positive for the banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine.
Methylhexaneamine is the same substance that was found in women's 100-metre champion Damola Osayomi’s A' sample last week. It was also found in about a dozen Indian athletes in recent months.
Osayemi has now been stripped of her gold medal after her B sample tested positive.
The decision sees England's Katherine Endacott getting the silver medal after finishing fourth last Thursday.
Australia's Sally Pearson had finished first but was controversially disqualified for a false start. Natasha Mayers of St Vincent and the Grenadines is now the gold medal winner, only the second ever for the country.
The bronze medal now goes to Delphine Atangana of Cameroon.
